Front Page Construction

The construction of the front cover of my music magazine was done on Photoshop CS4. I started off with a blank A4 style canvas and added my previously edited main image as the background. Using the typeface of 'Champagne and Limosines' I added the title of my magazine 'Impulse' although the 'Im' has been placed on a separate text box as the 'pulse' has a ring effect to mirror a pulse like effect. After this, I added on the cover lines, again in the same font. One of the cover lines are a quote from inside the magazine to intrigue the reader. On colours such as yellow I placed a red text background to it in order for it to contrast and become clear to read. In oppose to this, the red text has been placed on top of a yellow text background which again allow the words to radiate. For the anchoring text of my main image I placed a black banner going across the width of the page in a slightly tilted position. To carry on the pulse effect I added two more pale yellow rings to the top and bottom of the banner. Underneath my main images name I have placed a short personal caption in a different font to explain the double page spread article later on. From my research I found that pop magazine 'We Love Pop' have a sticker like effect stating it's a 'brand new mag'. I added the cover line of the chart review which was persisted by many members of my target audience and this also gives it a music magazine feel rather than gossip.
